Enrichment Opportunities

St Hugh's students benefit from a wide range of on and off-site enrichment opportunities

Enrichment Opportunities

Year 8

Students are given the opportunity to attend a 4 night residential at the Calvert Trust in the Lake District National Park.  This trip allows our students to achieve their potential through the challenge of outdoor adventure in the countryside.

Year 9

A 2 night residential takes our Year 9 students to a city experience to explore the sites, visit many museums, ride on the open top bus or take a trip on a train.

Year 10/11

Students are given the opportunity to travel abroad.  Recent trips abroad have taken us to France where students get a taste of European culture.  The French residential is for five nights.

Complex Classes

Life experience based residential trip for our 14-19 students.  Students will stay for 3 nights and enjoy fun facilities and focus on life skills and personal care.  Recent trips have included Butlins, Skegness and The Bendrigg Trust in the Lake District.

Payment for Trips

When students start in Year 7, parents/carers will be given the opportunity to set up a direct debit payment to make equal monthly payments to cover the cost of all trips throughout the five years.  Or, if they prefer, they can pay for each trip as it occurs.

Social Fund

A voluntary contribution of 75p per week is requested for the social fund.  This money is used to provide drinks and snacks for our students and to contribute towards merit awards.  Parents can pay at the beginning of each half-term or, if they prefer, send 75p in at the start of each week.

School Lunch Costs

For those students who are not entitled to free school meals, a charge of £2.10 per day is made.  Students are given a choice of hot and cold main meal and a dessert.  Payment can be made in advance at the beginning of each half-term or, by sending in £10.50 at the beginning of each week.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club runs every day from 8.50 a.m. to 9.15 a.m.   For 50p per day students can have a bowl of cereal or toast and a drink, and for 80p per day they can have a bacon sandwich and a drink.  Payment is collected on a daily basis.
