Learning Objective: to create a ‘messy map’
This week in Geography, 7/8SB have been creating ‘messy maps’. We have used objects from in the classroom, the PE cupboard and even used objects from outdoors! We learnt that maps and plans are representations of space in two dimensions and flat images. Two groups created maps of the school grounds whilst another group recreated a map of the local area of Scunthorpe. We had to think about the relative position of different objects on the map and how to depict 3-D space as a 2-D representation. We found many different shapes and objects to use and enjoyed making lots of creative ‘mess’ in the process!
