In the Summer term 7-8 RC have been learning about how shadows are created in Science, using torches, projectors and chalk! We have also blown up the planets to explore their colour, shape and size. We have found out how many planets there are and how they orbit the sun.
In English we have been learning about texts linked to ‘What’s for Tea?’ Students have enjoyed acting out the story of Handa’s Surprise and then created colourful fruit kebabs with some new exotic fruits. Lots of fun was had making fish and chilli pancakes after listening to the story of ‘Mama Panya’s Pancakes.’ Students then created story maps of Adika’s journey to market.
Students have been busy in practical maths activities, programming bee-bots to locate fruits, measuring ingredients to make pancakes and timing themselves to complete activities. Apparatus including Numicon and hundred squares have been used to support calculation work and students have engaged in online maths programmes including Abacus and Purple Mash.
We have also had lots of fun collecting objects in the hydro pool, learning new rebound moves on the trampoline and exploring our outdoor learning environment.
