On Friday 10th November we held our Remembrance service in our Remembrance garden. The focus was Passchendaele which marks its 100th anniversary this year.
The Battle of Passchendaele
The Battle of Passchendaele, fought between 31st July and 6th November 1917, is sometimes called the Third Battle of Ypres. For the soldiers who fought at Passchendaele, it was known as the 'Battle of Mud'. For the sake of a few kilometres, the British lost 310,000 men and the Germans 260,000 men.
We lit up to remember a dark past
