Students in KS5 BS have been learning about pet care as part of their Life Skills curriculum. To develop their career thinking and to link their curriculum learning to careers, Gemma, a Veterinary Nurse from MediVet in Brigg came into class to talk to students about her work. She brought her dog Honey into class so that students could have a go at some of her daily responsibilities such as listening to Honey's heart, finding a microchip, looking at x-rays and grooming.
Students asked lots of interesting questions and listened carefully to Gemma. They particularly enjoyed interacting with Honey. Many students have now expressed an interest in working with animals (dogs in particular!) in the future.
KS5 BS would like to thank Gemma and Honey for supporting our careers work in school. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
